Kithul Jaggery
Dumbara Kithul Syrup and jaggery is made from sweet sap extracted from the inflorescences (flower) of the Kithul Palm tree, botanically known as (Caryota urens) which are grown in Sri Lankan rainforests. When extracted pure sap boiled and concentrated into a dark brown thick and sweet in flavour syrup called kithul treacle or kithul syrup. It is traditional desserts like "Kewum, aluwa, welithalapa, aggala etc. When further concentrated the syrup, It also produces a crystalline sugar called Kithul Jaggery.
Other uses of Kithul treacle and jaggery are candies, puddings, ice cream, cakes and many more. Kithul is one of the native and natural sweeteners of Sri Lanka.
Dumbara Kithul Jaggery-500g- Specially developed packing which helps to retain original flavor, color and smell over one year’s time period. Product contains single slab or 8g small cubes and is made from 100 % pure Kithul treacle. No added sugar, preservatives, colors and flavors.
Uses
Kithul jaggery is the sweetener of Sri Lankan gastronomy. It is kithul jaggery and no other that takes pride of place as the perfect sweet accompaniment to the auspicious dish of milk rice on festive occasions. It is the sugar substitute to be nibbled on with a cup of herbal tea, the sweetener with congee and the honey in the rich dessert wattalappam. More recently, it has become the flavour of modern sweet treats like cake and ice cream, available in large supermarket chains and confectionery stores.

Sri Lanka's indigenous system of medicine - Ayurveda - treats kithul jaggery as a very rich food, which can make you gain weight in a healthy way. Ayurveda posits that if you are thin and weak, you will gain weight by eating kithul jaggery, but never gain weight in excess.
