An uncommon,  122 year old
monotone (tinted) postcard view of Imperial Japanese Army Tokyo Arsenal, also known as the
Koishikawa Arsenal
which was located in the Bunkyo district of Tokyo.
The complex produced weapons and ammunitions, airplanes and other materials for Japan's ongoing militarization.
*The arseanl was built in 1871 after the Meiji Restoration..
and
..
was destroyed during the Great Kanto Earthquake
of September 1st, 1923.
....
Complete reconstruction was deemed too expensive, so that the arsenal was transferred to Kokura, Kyushu in October 1935, after 66 years of operation.
The postcard was mailed in 1899 from Tokyo to Berlin, Germany...
