Unique Lot of a New in Box  Mariquita Perez 18" doll plus three brand new complete  outfits, plus the one she is wearing, makes 4 outfits, all tagged and original. This doll was made in the 1990's as a new edition of the 1938 Mariquita Perez created by Portuguese artist Leonor Coelho  and manufactured in Spain. She is made of the highest quality vinyl all jointed, with dark brown rooted hair and gorgeous blue sleep eyes with real eyelashes, She has an open mouth with 2 little girl's teeths showing.
The doll was produced in Spain until 1976. She was the most popular doll during the 1940's and 50's in Spain and in Cuba, where she was known as the REINA DE CUBA. It was an expensive doll and not all little girls could have one.
She was made  with a highest quality  materials,  not only used in the doll,  then made of 'CARTON PIEDRA" something similar to composition  but also  used to make  her fabulous  wardrobe,  and accesories, then sewn  by hand at many Catholic Convents in Spain by the nuns.
All Mariquita Perez doll  dresses  also fits the AMERICAN  GIRL DOLLS.
This doll belonged to my late mother, an avid doll collector and one of her favorite, She had a few of them but only one will stay home in her memory, we are listing the others that were stored when purchased, never displayed or played with.
The outfits are wonderfully made with many details and quality fabrics, great finishes and hand made exclusively for her. Included is a jean skirt set, with belt and a matching long sleeves  blouse with her name embroidered in it. There is one in dark brick color, that has an underderess in beige, includes her panties and a matching purse with the doll's name embroidered in it and two matching ribbons for her hair, also with undies. The last one is a sweet pink dress with a white underskirt  to make her dress fuller. She wears a light fabric light green dress with underskirt, panties and a big pamela with a brown pom-pon on the center, white genuine leather sandals which are marked on the bottom with the name Mariquita Perez.
Again she is new, it was stored when purchased, outfits boxes were discarded to save space in doll's room closet, and stored in plastic bags  They are completely new and never used.
This is an expensive doll, with expensive wardrobe, shoes and accesories, that were not really known in the USA and now they are all retired and discontinued as they stop making them in Onil, Spain.
